Aryabhata's observation highlighted the concept of relative motion and provided compelling evidence for the Earth's rotation on its axis. His visionary thinking challenged the prevailing notion of a flat Earth and paved the way for a deeper understanding of our planet's true nature.

When a ship approaches from a distance, the top of its mast is the first part visible, gradually revealing the full vessel. Similarly, when a ship departs from a harbor, it disappears gradually over the curved surface of the Earth. If the Earth were flat, the entire ship would be either seen or obscured instantaneously.
Sunrise and Sunset:
The time at which the sun rises and sets varies in different locations. As the Earth rotates from west to east, places in the east witness sunrise earlier than those in the west. This phenomenon is consistent with a spherical Earth, as opposed to a flat one where sunrise and sunset would occur simultaneously worldwide.
Lunar Eclipse:
During a lunar eclipse, when the Earth casts its shadow on the moon, the shadow is always circular in shape. It takes the form of an arc of a circle, a distinctive characteristic of a spherical object.
Planetary Bodies:
Observations through telescopes have consistently revealed that all planetary bodies, including the sun, moon, satellites, and stars, possess a circular outline from every angle. By analogy, it is logical to conclude that the Earth, too, follows this pattern.
Curvature on Level Ground:
Engineers conducting experiments by driving poles of equal length at regular intervals on the ground have noticed a slight projection of the center pole above the end poles. This subtle curvature supports the idea of a spherical Earth.
Aerial Photographs:
High-altitude images captured by rockets and satellites provide clear visual evidence of the curved edge of the Earth, reinforcing its spherical shape.
While the Earth is not a perfect sphere, with a slight bulge at the equator and flattening at the poles, precise measurements have confirmed its overall spherical nature. This unique shape, known as a "geoid," is exclusive to Earth and exemplifies its distinctive form.
